Abstract:

In the year 2006, Intel Corporation (Intel) launched its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program named the 'World Ahead.' As a part of the 'World Ahead' program, Intel started the Baramati project in India in March 2008. The key objective of the project was to use information and communication technologies (ICTs) in providing sustainable solutions for poor communities.

For the project, Intel had partnered with governments of several states in the country, and also with IT service companies, Internet service providers etc. The case highlights the main objectives of the 'World Ahead' program including accessibility, connectivity, content and education.
